Finding a good place to train isn’t always easy, especially for triathletes who must train for three different sports. So they need access to water, preferably open water, and to good cycling and running trails. The first of these is probably the hardest for the majority of athletes, given that most of the country does not have an ocean nearby. A lake is better than a pool by far, but it doesn’t typically have the currents and waves found in the ocean.
Running and cycling is a little easier, but the goal is to find a path or trail where the athlete will not be hindered by other foot or bike traffic and can train full out. The time of day may have to come into consideration, and training may need to be done when most other people are not out. Once good training venues are established, it’s on to the races.
